Nita meninggal setelah menjalani perawatan karena penyakit kanker paru yang dideritanya.
"Tadi malam jujur saja saya panik. Karena semua yang laporan ke suster, itu saya. Sebenarnya dia itu habis disedot slimenya (lendir), slame sangat mengganggu sekali. Saya sebetulnya sudah curiga ketika selesai," kata Indro selepas pemakaman Nita di Taman Pemakaman Umun Tanah Kusir Blok AA II, Kebayoran Lama, Rabu (10/10/2018).
"Jadi dia bilang ke saya hanya bisa sedot yang dari tenggorokan, yang ke bawah saya enggak bisa sedot dan itu sudah gumpalan darah," lanjut dia.
Mendengar perkataan dokter, Indro sudah memiliki firasat umur Nita tak panjang lagi.
Satu hingga dua jam setelahnya, nafas Nita menjadi cepat bahkan sempat merasa sesak hingga menunjukkan ekspersi kesakitan.
"Kayak orang ngos-ngosan tapi habis itu juga (sesak) dan tiba-tiba juga (nunjukkin ekspresi kesakitan dan sesak). saya yakin bgt itu ada (yang menyumbat) cuman memang enggak bisa. Resikonya udah pasti kematian kalau di terusin ke bawah, karena akan ganggu napas juga," ungkap dia.
Melihat sang istri kesakitan, ia terus menyemangati Nita sambil menyebut nama panggilan istrinya, yaitu Yati.
"Saya sebetulnya sudah berasa. Ya sudah saya begitu dia udah mengap-mangap begitu, saya loncat-loncat saya teriak-teriak Ayo! Ayo! Semangat Ti, semangat! Di situ saya sadar, ini sudah dekat," kata dia.
"Ya Allah, ya Allah. Tadinya saya masih lihat. Astagfirullah, dia juga masih lihat. Tapi terakhir dia sulit bernapas saya sama Ipoet (anak pertamanya) memandu Ya Allah, Ya Allah. Sampai akhirnya dokter bilang ibu sudah enggak ada," lanjut Indro sambil meneteskan air mata mengingat kembali semalam.
Indro pun mengaku, meskipun sakit kanker sejak Agustus 2017 lalu, Nita tak pernah mengeluh.
"Dia punya yang cukup kuat usahanya cukup semangat walaupun saya juga tahu capek banget dia. Pasti capek bgt. (Sambil nangis) Pasti," kata dia.
"Dia jarang sakit, jarang ngeluh. Sampai sakit terkahir enggak pernah ngeluh. Keluhannya yang terakhir-terakhir memang agak aneh aja. Mau pulang, mau pulang," ucap dia.
